Overview
The reserve is home to a host of iconic African animals and birds that thrive in Zululand’s rolling grasslands and riverine forests. Manyoni means “place of the birds” in Zulu, and with 415 recorded bird species, the reserve lives up to its name. Various endangered species like cheetah and rhino, have been introduced as part of the reserve’s commitment to conservation. Days at Rhino River Lodge start and end with game drives in the reserve guided by one of our knowledgeable rangers. While out in the bush, look out for lions, elephants, buffalo, leopard, giraffe, cheetah and rhino as well as a variety of birds such as barbets, rollers, kingfishers, sunbirds and hornbills. Before heading back to the lodge, your guide will stop to give you the chance to take in the beauty of the bush, while enjoying drinks and snacks.
